SHORT INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROGRAMME: Doctors take the advantage of radiological screening systems in the diagnosis and treatment of many illnesses. Programme educates qualified personel for radiological services field with suitable and technological occupational knowledge, skills and behaviours
AIM OF THE PROGRAMME: Programme aims to give the knowledge of medical screening tools used in the radiology, nucleer medicine and radiation oncology department of hospitals. The knowledge consists of the working principles of the tools, preparation of the patient for the examination and screening.

QUALIFICATION OF STUDENTS: Altough there isn’t any law regulation, this occupation requires hand and eye skills. So this kind of disabilities would effect the occupational success negatively. Because the technician should stand still for long hours and has to work in shifts at hospitals there shouldn’t exist any orthopedic disability. Also being concerned with computers and other automation tools are the factors of success.
PRACTICAL TRAINING ACTIVITIES IN EDUCATION PERIOD AND THEIR DURATION:
20-days long compulsary practical training courses in the summer periods of the 1st and 2nd years. 14-weeks long practical training course in the spring period of the 2nd year. Courses are at Gazi University Medicine Faculty Hospital, Radiology department units.
TITLE CONFERRED AND EMPLOYMENT FIELDS AFTER GRADUATING: Health technician title is conferred to the graduates. Their working field is very wide. Computer tomography, magnetic resonance, mammography, ultrasonography units, some parts of nucleer medicine, the preparation and application of the tools of patients taking laser treatment are some of them.
EMPLOYMENT FIELDS: They can work at geriatrics departments of public foundations with the prerequisite of passing the KPSS exam and can work as health technician at private health foundations giving elder care services.
FUTURE OF VOCATION: Health organisations’ demand for skilled and educated health technicians would increase parallel with the improving public and technology. Our students have the opportunity for attending a 4-years education by passing OSYM examination after the graduation.
