MEDICAL IMAGING TECHNIQUES (RADIOLOGY)

STUDENT ACCEPTANCE CONDITIONS

As a result of the exam conducted by the Higher Education Council Assessment, Selection and Placement Center, students who have received sufficient points in the TYT score type are admitted. Students are also admitted to the program through lateral transfer. These transitions are regulated by a directive and students can transfer between diploma programs of different higher education institutions or diploma programs within the same higher education institution, but within the framework of the previously announced quota and transition conditions.

ACCESSING TO HIGHER DEGREE PROGRAMS (Horizontal-Vertical Transition)

Students who have graduated from the department of medical imaging techniques can graduate from certain departments of the relevant Faculties in the guide published by OSYM, if they are successful in the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) conducted by OSYM.

ASSESMENT AND EVALUATION

Each student must register for the classes at the beginning of the term and attend the theoretical and applied courses in order to enter the final exam. Students are subjected to at least one midterm and final exam for each course. Students who get one of the letter grades of AA, BA, BB, CB, CC, DC and DD from a course are deemed to have succeeded in that course.

For students who have graduated from three courses or one course left, a single course or three course exam is given.

GRADUATION CONDITIONS

In order to graduate from the department, an academic grade point average of at least 2 must be achieved and they must complete 120 ECTS credits with compulsory and elective courses at the end of 4 semesters.

GOAL

To train qualified personnel who have gained professional knowledge, skills and behavior in the field of radiology services by the physician in the field of diagnosis or treatment of the disease.

BRIEF INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROGRAM

In this program; Technical personnel are trained in the functioning of the devices used in the units of Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Oncology, and the preparation and imaging of the required relevant examination from the patient. Graduates are not authorized to work individually and have the opportunity to find jobs in private health and public institutions. While the theoretical courses of the program are held in the School of Medicine, internship and other applications are carried out at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine. The courses are given by the lecturers of our school and the faculty members of Gazi University Faculty of Medicine. Due to the developing technology and the importance of the health sector, the future of the program is bright and those who are successful in the DMS / KMS exam can easily be employed in public institutions. In addition, those who are successful in the DGS exam can earn the right to continue their 4-year (Undergraduate) education close to the relevant program.

QUALITIES SEEKED IN STUDENTS

Physical Characteristics: Although there is no legal restriction, this profession requires hand and eye skills, and the absence of a disability in these limbs is a factor in the high success of the person after graduation. It should also be taken into account that there is no orthopedic disability related to this, as there may be night and / or daytime shift work and the continuous standing in the viewing rooms.

Ability: To be prone to jobs that require dexterity and speed.

Interest: Having an interest in technical equipment, computers and other automation devices.

INTERNSHIP APPLICATION IN SCHOOL AND DURATION

Internship training periods: Summer internship is 30 working days in Term II, and spring internship is done 3 working days a week in Term IV.

TITLE AND WORKING AREAS OF THE PROGRAM COMPLETED

Those who successfully complete the radiology program are given an associate degree diploma with the title of Health Technician. The fields of study, on the other hand, have a very important and wide area in the health sector. There are areas of study in units such as direct films, Computed tomography, Magnetic Resonance, Mammography, Ultrasonography, which are requested for the diagnosis of the disease, or in the preparation and application of the devices of patients undergoing radiation therapy and in various units of the Nuclear medicine department.

JOB OPPORTUNITIES: Our students who have received the title of Radiology Technician can find job opportunities in institutions and organizations affiliated to the Ministry of Health, State and Social insurance hospitals, University hospitals, private hospitals and polyclinics.

THE FUTURE OF THE PROFESSION

After our students are successful in our school, they are entitled to undergraduate education if they pass the vertical transfer exam opened by the Student Selection and Placement Center. With the developing technology, health institutions are starting to prefer university graduates as they need qualified personnel and it is expected to be even more important in the future.
