AIM: To train health technicians who got qualification about procedures except microscopic examinations and can perform modern and traditional techniques under pathology specialist supervision.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Students can graduate after completing theoretical lectures such as anatomy, physiology, cytology, histology, biochemistry, microbiology, cytotechnology, histotechnology and practical lectures like summer practice and internship.

THE REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS OF THE STUDENTS:
Physical Properties: Although a legal restriction is not present, as hand and eye skills are important in this profession, disability of these organs should not be present for the post-graduate success. The presence of an orthopaedic disability should be taken into account as the work may require night and/or day shifts and as prolonged standing may be required.
Talent: Having facility with hand skills and rapidity.
Interest: Laboratory equipments, computer and automotisation systems.
Students can complete their internship in related departments of Faculty of Medicine of Gazi University.
TITLES AND WORK AREAS OF THE GRADUATES:
After successful graduation, students have associate degree diploma of health technician and are titled as "Pathology Laboratory Technician". Graduates can work in pathology, cytopathology and histopathology laboratories of university, public and private hospitals. Also they can also work in forensics laboratories, cytogenetic, molecular pathology laboratories.
THE FUTURE OF THE PROFESSION: If students succeed in the vertical pass examination performed by the Student Selection and Placement Center, they can gain right to attend to undergraduate programmes of departments of the biology, nursing, and health services.
