The 2026–2027 Academic Year Opening Ceremony of our Vocational School of Health Services was held in the renovated conference hall with the participation of our University Rector, Prof. Dr. Uğur Ünal.

The ceremony was attended by our Rector, Prof. Dr. Uğur Ünal, as well as the University's academic and administrative leadership, faculty members, administrative staff, and students.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Director of the Vocational School of Health Services, Prof. Dr. Zahide Esra Durak, stated that the School, established in 1985, continues to fulfil its responsibility of training qualified healthcare professionals through its seven associate degree programs. She emphasized that healthcare is not merely a profession; it also means being there for people during their most difficult moments and putting one's knowledge at the service of human life.

Noting that Gazi University moves forward into the future with strength drawn from its long-standing heritage, Prof. Dr. Zahide Esra Durak stated that the Vocational School acts with the responsibility of being part of this distinguished institution. Addressing the students, she highlighted the responsibility inherent in healthcare education with the words “Every piece of knowledge you acquire in these classrooms today will touch someone's life tomorrow.”

Prof. Dr. Zahide Esra Durak expressed the School's goal as “Providing better education, building a stronger future, and training more qualified healthcare professionals.” Emphasizing Gazi University's strong sense of belonging and the future of healthcare in Türkiye, she stated that every step taken contributes not only to the future of the Vocational School but also to the future of healthcare in the country.

A Message from Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Uğur Ünal, to Our Students: “We Expect You to Keep the Name of Gazi Alive Through Your Profession”

In his address, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Uğur Ünal, stated that Gazi University closely follows the needs of the future while drawing strength from its long-standing heritage. He emphasized that the University remains committed to high-quality education, scientific research, innovation, and service to society.

Prof. Dr. Uğur Ünal highlighted the importance of the Vocational School of Health Services educating students not only in professional knowledge and skills but also as healthcare professionals who respect human life, adhere to ethical values, possess strong communication skills, and demonstrate a sense of responsibility. He noted that university years are an important period during which students discover themselves and shape their futures.

Emphasizing Gazi University's 100-year legacy of science and education, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Uğur Ünal, conveyed the following message to the students: “We expect you to keep the name of Gazi alive not only on your diplomas but also through your professional achievements, work ethic, the way you treat people, and the contributions you make to society.”
