Within the scope of Article 3 of Law No. 5653 on the Yunus Emre Foundation, education, examination, and certification activities related to the Turkish language conducted outside Türkiye are carried out by the Yunus Emre Foundation. In this context, the Yunus Emre Institute, established by the Foundation, conducts various educational activities, including Turkish language instruction and the Turkish Proficiency Exam (TYS), at its Cultural Centers abroad.

The Turkish Proficiency Exam (TYS), developed in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), is administered three times a year at examination centers both in Türkiye and abroad. The first Turkish Proficiency Exam (TYS) of 2026 will be held on February 1, 2026.
